2022 NCTA National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships

The NCTA is pleased to announce that 2022 National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships will take place on Apr. 1-3, 2022 in Marlborough, MA. The Championships will also host the Team Trials for the 16 sparring athletes and up to 10 poomsae athletes that will represent USA at the 2022 FISU America Games in Merida, Mexico in October.

Due to the changing COVID-19 situation, the situation surrounding the 2022 FISU America Games is still in flux. Athletes should be adaptable and be prepared for the possibility that the Games may be canceled, even though we are optimistic that they will be held. The NCTA will endeavor to find the best training or competition opportunity possible for the Games-qualified athletes if this is the case.

Online Registration

Registration for the NCTA Collegiate Taekwondo Championships is open at USA Taekwondo Sport80. All athletes and coaches must be USA Taekwondo Members, and coaches must pass a background check, Safesport Certification and associate coach certification. Athletes must also take the Safesport Training (instructions can be found in Sport80).

The 2022 National Collegiate Taekwondo Championships will be a USATKD 10.0 Ranked event.

COVID POLICY:

All spectators, coaches, staff and athletes will be required to wear a mask in the venue during the competition. Athletes will be allowed to remove their mask when on the mat competing. 3-ply medical masks, N-95, KN-95 or KF-94 are acceptable masks, and cloth masks will not be accepted. If you do not have one of these masks, then one will be provided for you.

Age/Citizenship Eligibility

FISU America Poomsae Divisions:

Athletes aged 18-25 on Dec. 31, 2022 will be eligible and must be US Citizens.

All Other Divisions:

Athletes aged 18 and older on Dec. 31, 2022 will be eligible and do not have to be US Citizens.

Collegiate Eligibility

Athletes who graduated from college in either 2021, or 2022, or who are half-time status or more between Jan. 10 and April 1, 2022, will be eligible.

All athletes MUST do one of the following to verify collegiate eligibility of half-time status or greater by Tuesday, March. 15, 2022:

  1. Use parchment.com to send an official transcript and use the address nctaeligibility@gmail.com at the bottom of the form on that page, OR
  2. Check your school website for the option to have them send a transcript or proof of graduation directly to nctaeligibility@gmail.com, OR
  3. Email a scan of the completed 2022 NCTA Collegiate Championships Trials Eligibility Form, signed by your college registrar, to nctaeligibility@gmail.com and bring original with you to registration.

Failure to complete this step will result in an athlete not being allowed to compete. Please email nctaeligibility@gmail.com with any problems or concerns.
